Well being 76 doesn't help when it comes to quieting idiots in the press that keep jumping on the Jaguars-to-LA bandwagon, but being honest helps. Wayne Weaver has come out and said, yes, he will have to sell the team, but whoever buys the team, has to be committed to Jacksonville. Now as a season ticket holder that makes me VERY happy! But I would like the transition to happen NOW, not later. I think the Jaguars would be better off if people knew what the future holds.
I love the 30/30 plan and hope it never goes away, but how many other ticket buyers would the Jags get if people knew that in 24 months, the Jaguars would still be in Jacksonville. If you aren't familiar with the 30/30 plan, it is a great way to buy season tickets, and it may have saved football in Jacksonville. The 30/30 plan allows you to buy 3 years worth of Jaguars season tickets or 30 games and pay for them over 30 months, INTEREST FREE. Not a bad deal at all and I'm surprised it has never been tried before.
Jacksonville used to be the insurance and banking capital of the South. It is now mostly a regional headquarters kind of town. Yet, Jacksonville still has some of the largest companies in America headquartered here. There are numerous millionaires and a couple of billionaires that live with it's metro area of 1.75 million people at least part of the year. So, I would hope that one or two of them would step forward and proclaim their interest in the Jaguars. The clock is ticking and having met Wayne Weaver, I think he really does want the Jaguars to stay the Jacksonville Jaguars, so now it's time for the rich people to step up.
