Baltimore Ravens Year in Review

It was another great year for the Baltimore Ravens that was sadly ended by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens ended the 2010 season with a 12-4 record and placed 2nd in the AFC North.

Personally, I thought the Ravens had an Ok year. The Offense did not hold up to its expectations after signing wideouts Anqaun Boldin and TJ Houshmandzadeh in the off season and Joe Flacco coming into his third year. Flacco continues to show signs that he is still a young Quaterback. With three great WR's in Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason, and TJ Houshmandzadeh theres no excuse why the offense is still ranked outside of the top 15. I think Cam Cameron has worn out his welcome in Baltmore. He runs the ball on 1st down and doesn's utilize Pro-Bowler Ray Rice as he should. Ray Rice is quick and fast, Baltimore needs to throw more screens and pitches to rice to let him get up the field. The Offensive line needs work too. With Jared Gaither the entire season with contract problems Micheal Oher had to replace Gaither. Oher has a great story leading up to his NFL career but he's young. Too many false starts and slow off the line.

Now for the defense. The once dominate Baltimore Ravens defense is getting old. With both Ed Reed and Ray Lewis in their 30's it was time for another player to step up. Terrell Suggs did exactly that. Coming off one of his worst years in 2009, Suggs stepped up and recorded 11 sacks. Suggs was a force rushing off the edge and disrupting offensive lines. As for the cornerbacks, they need work. Ladarius Webb showed he had potential in the league with alot of clutch tipped balls. Josh Wilson was traded from Seattle a few weeks into the season and got better every week including winning the game for Baltimore against Houston in a Week 14 overtime thriller returning an interception for a touchdown.

Looking ahead to ahead to the 2011 season (if there is one) I think the Ravens need to fire Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron and hire someone who will let Flacco have more control of the offense. Also I think we should take a shot at Nnamdi Asomugha who is a shut down corner
