Ravens to release McGahee?

Several reports have surfaced that the Baltimore Ravens are contemplating to release running back Willis McGahee. McGahee has totaled 62 games while wearing a Baltimore Ravens uniform in just four years. The eight year veteran out of "The U" has recorded 2,812 total yards, 4.2 yards per attempt, and 31 touchdowns in Baltimore. It Would be difficult but head coach John Harbaugh would like for McGahee to return for the 2011 season.

McGahee may not be the number one running back in Baltimore but he is a key element to the running game. McGahee is a physical runner that is needed when the Ravens enter the red zone and during the second half. I feel like McGahee is at his best late in a game when the defense is tired. As I said before, McGahee is a physical back and it's tough for a defense to contain him late in a game when the Ravens are driving.

I would like to see Baltimore keep McGahee under contract if there is a 2011 season. McGahee is our goal line runner and he adds depth to the running game. We need someone to be a threat while Ray Rice is on the sideline trying to catch his breath.
